Welcome to the Level 4 Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner Apprenticeship, a comprehensive 18-month programme designed to equip aspiring professionals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in working with children, young people, and their families. Months 1–3: Foundation Modules
During the first three months, learners will establish a strong foundation by focussing on Child Development and Safeguarding. They will gain an understanding of the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children and young people, along with learning the essentials of safeguarding, including identifying risks and understanding legal responsibilities to ensure the safety of children and young people.

Months 4–6: Core Skills Development
In this phase, learners will develop key skills in Supporting Children Affected by Harm or Abuse and Effective Communication. They will focus on trauma-informed practices to support children who have experienced harm or abuse, while also enhancing their communication skills to effectively build trust and convey information to children, young people, and families.

Months 7–9: Planning and Risk Management
The focus during these months will be on Risk Management and Assessment and Planning. Learners will develop the ability to assess and manage risks in various scenarios involving children and families, while also learning to assess needs and plan interventions that promote positive outcomes for those in their care.

Months 10–12: Supporting Relationships and Group Dynamics
Learners will explore strategies for Supporting Group Living and Promoting Positive Outcomes. This phase involves understanding group dynamics, fostering positive interactions, and implementing interventions that lead to beneficial outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Months 13–15: Advanced Professional Practice
As the programme progresses, learners will focus on Supporting Attachment and Relationships, Well-being and Resilience, and Supporting Learning Potential. They will develop strategies to foster healthy attachments, enhance the well-being and resilience of children and young people, and support their educational and developmental potential to help them achieve their full capabilities.

Months 16–18: End-Point Assessment (EPA) Preparation and Completion
In the final phase, learners will consolidate their knowledge by focusing on Promoting Socially Aware Behaviour, Professional Development, and Supporting Rights, Diversity, and Equality. They will prepare for the EPA by finalising their understanding of inclusive practices, reflecting on personal growth, and ensuring they are well-prepared to support the rights and diversity of children and young people.

Months 16–18: End-Point Assessment (EPA)
The programme concludes with the EPA, which consists of an Observation and an Interview. Learners will be observed in their work setting, demonstrating their application of knowledge and skills in real-life scenarios, followed by a professional discussion to reflect on their learning journey and showcase their competence as a Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner.
