ESFA funding rules require a minimum of 30 hours for most apprenticeships; 16 hours is possible for part-time provision with an extended duration.

ESFA residency rule — applies to where you've lived for the three years before the programme starts. There are exceptions for certain visa types.

This programme develops your ability to plan, oversee, and manage horticulture or landscaping operations, combining technical expertise with environmental and commercial awareness.
Building Leadership and Industry Knowledge
Months 1–6
Develop a strong foundation in leadership, communication, and industry standards. You will build knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations while learning how to manage teams, support site operations, and understand client expectations.
You will also begin developing technical skills in tools, machinery, irrigation, and environmental best practices, ensuring you can supervise work safely and responsibly from an early stage.
Developing Technical Expertise and Site Oversight
Months 7–12
Build advanced knowledge in soil science, plant health, and cultivation systems, allowing you to assess conditions and support effective landscape management.
Alongside this, you will develop project planning and resource management skills, learning how to organise work, manage materials, and oversee both soft and hard landscaping activities across a range of environments.
Specialising and Leading Core Operations
Months 13–15
Choose your pathway in horticulture or landscape construction and develop specialist expertise.
You will take a more active leadership role, planning maintenance, supervising installations, managing resources, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with environmental and business requirements.
Demonstrating Competence and End Point Assessment
Months 16–21
Prepare for and complete your End Point Assessment by refining your leadership, technical knowledge, and practical skills.
You will complete project work, build your portfolio, and demonstrate your ability to lead teams, manage operations, and deliver outcomes in real-world environments, achieving your Level 3 qualification.
