This programme develops the advanced turf management knowledge and practical skills needed to maintain high-quality sports turf surfaces.

Sports Turf Foundations

Months 1–4

Learners build core knowledge of sports turf operations, including health and safety, safe machinery use, and the role of the sports turf technician. They develop an understanding of how different sports surfaces are maintained and the standards required to ensure safe and consistent playing conditions.

Turfgrass Science and Surface Performance

Months 5–9

Focus shifts to turfgrass species, growth patterns, and the biological factors that influence turf performance. Learners develop skills in mowing, aeration, and maintaining consistent playing surfaces while understanding how environmental conditions affect turf quality.

 

Soil, Water and Turf Health Management

Months 10–14

Professional Development

Months 15–18
